Pixel's Success Story

Feel free to say hi to Pixel on the Facebook post we created for Pixel's Chihuahua Rescue Victoria Success Story!

Happiest little playful girl

Thursday, 21st of May 2015

Here is what we said about this dog when we first put Pixel up for adoption - who was then known as Polley Pocket.

Polly Pocket is a very young and small Chihuahua cross, probably about 1 year old.

She is the happiest little playful girl who loves people and being with you full time. She will try to dig out if you leave her home alone.

Pixel is very friendly and will get along with other dogs, cats and children. (Thursday, 21st of May 2015)

Pixel tries a new home but comes back

Friday, 29th of May 2015

Still known as Polly Pocket, we sent little Pixel off to try her first forever home.

Pixel (Polley Pocket still at the time) looks so ready for her new home! (Friday, 29th of May 2015)

Polly Pocket met a lovely young lady this morning and decided to give grandma the heave ho!! Good luck you little dream dog, we wish you every happiness in your new home.

Regrettably her first try didn't work out. The poor girl didn't get along too well in her new home. It is extremely unfortunate, but it happens. It can occur for a huge variety of unpredictable reasons. We do our best to ensure a potential home and loving family is suitable in advance, but hindsight is 20/20, so to speak. What we appreciate the most in circumstances like these is when the family is brave enough to realise when it's not working out, and put themselves through the hardship of admitting something is wrong and their situation is not right for the dog. We don't blame the family: it truly takes courage to admit something is wrong and give the dog back — the family is giving up on a dream of their own after all.

Later, Pixel's mum told us how she was settling in quickly.

She's loving life. She slept on the bed all night and didn't do anything overnight that we could see. I took her outside: we're teaching her “outside for wees” so she knows that when she goes outside in the morning, that's what she does. She pooped as soon as she went out too! She is amazing. She loves water and actually walked into the shower happily while I was in it last night! So I gave her a bath, ha!

Pixel is six years old!

Wednesday, 10th of June 2020

It had been such a long time since we heard from Pixel that we had to reach out.. and we were so happy that we did!

Hi Rita!

You know I was only just thinking about sending you an update a few days ago! Pixel is amazing. She's doing so well. She's six now!

She still sees her brother Thaddeus (our staffy) and her other doggy friends. My friend's new wife also has children and her five year old is obsessed with Pixel and Pixel is devoted to her.

I have a new partner with a dog, so Pixel has a new brother called Drake and they're the best of friends. They snuggle with each other all the time. She also loves her new dad so she's got so many people to love her. 😀

She's still as sassy as ever, a typical chihuahua trying to protect me from the leaves outside the window, or the person walking across the street! 😀

She's my best little friend.

Thank you so much for the update and new pictures - I am so happy to see that Pixel has truly found her forever loving home. Even when families change configurations, they keep the love, which is most important.

Oh wow, so many changes for you too! But wonderful to hear. You are all so happy now and all the doggy family are living the great life.

The photos are so delightful - I love them.

Pixel has gained a bit of weight too it looks like! Or might be the way she is curled up: they all look so happy!

Take care and thank you so much for the delightful update.

Love from Rita

Pixel is very alert. Very happy. We went to the park and she just follows us around while Drake chases sticks!

Thank you so much!

She is stunning! Those eyes are so bright and alert - love these photos! Lots love and cuddles to Pixel and to you.
